Prize for the best technological realizations respectful to environment

Within the program ARCA, Actions for raising critical awareness towards environment and for diffusing scientifically sound information related to E.U. environmental policy among citizens, cofunded by the European Community, DG Environment, a contest at the European level leading to a prize of € 8000 is banned for the best realization carried out by firms, associations of citizens or social organisations, or schools, where environment and technological achievements are fused and complementary. The prize will be conferred to the firms, associations, organizations or schools to finance their activities.

The total amount of the prize may be subdivided among several candidates.

Candidates from all European Countries and Associated Countries can participate.

Proposals must be written in English and should contain

• a completely filled form describing the candidate institution (Annex 1)
• an accurate description of the realizations and of achievements
• parrticipants and eventual partners involved in the work
• analysis of environmental aspects
• analysis of technological aspects
• literature of reference

Proposals must be submitted in electronic form on CD as:

• WEB pages containing HTM files exclusively written with any, not heavy, amenable for corrections editor using .jpg or .gif  image files. For instance, the automatic web versions of  Word or similar programs are not accepted.
• Word edited files with the corresponding Text files and .jpg or .gif image files

Paper versions of proposals will be neither required nor accepted; coherence with  the respect for the environment calls for a reduction of unnecessary waste of paper.

The dead line for presenting candidate proposals is January 31, 2003

Projects will be evaluated by a committee formed by scientists partners of the project on the basis of the following parameters:

·        European value of the achievements

·        Scientific quality

·        Technological quality

·        Environmental quality

·        Possibility of diffusion of experiences and materials

The committee decision about the quality of  achievements and about the eventual subdivision of the prize among several participants is final.
